Robber killed in Pabna Gunfight

An alleged robber was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between his cohorts and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Oktarpur village Ishwardi upazila of Pabna district on Friday early morning.

The deceased was identified as Jahirul Islam, 48.

Rab sources said on a tip-off that a gang of robbers were taking preparation to commit robbery in the area, a team of police launched a drive there early in the morning.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the gang members opened fire at them, prompting the police personnel to retaliate that triggered a gunfight, leaving Jahirul dead on spot with bullets.

Later, Rab arrested recovered while his other associates managed to flee the scene.

Police also recovered lethal weapons from his possession.
