Govt declares Bhola’s Ilisha-1 as 29th gas field
Ilisha-1 in Bhola district has been declared as the country’s 29th gas field.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid announced the discovery of new gas field at a press conference at his residence on Monday morning.
The state minister said the new gas field is expected to have about 200 billion cubic feet of gas reserves.
He said the market value of gas stored in Ilisha-1 is Tk 6,500 crore, and if we consider the price of imported LNG, then the price will be Tk 28,000 crore.
“This is a great news for the people of the country,” Nasrul said.
He said it will take about 3 years to bring the gas from Bhola to Dhaka through a pipeline.
It is mentionable that, Ilisha-1 is located at an union in Bhola district, about 182 km from the capital city Dhaka.
