Journalist Azhar Mahmood no more

Online news portal Campuslive24.com editor-in-chief Azhar Mahmood died on Sunday after suffering from liver cirrhosis.

He breathed his last around 3 pm while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital, Dhaka.

The namaz-e-janaza of Azhar, who left behind his wife and a son, will be held at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) premises at 8:30 pm.

Later, he will be buried at his home in Madan upazila of Netrakona, said family members.

Azhar Mahmood started his journalism career with Voice of America and subsequently, he worked with Daily Bangla Bazar, Daily Manab Zamin, Boishakhi TV and BTV.

He was a permanent member of DRU and general secretary of the Crime Reporters' Association of Bangladesh (CRAB).

CRAB president Mirza Mehedi Tomal and general secretary Mamunur Rashid, and executive members of the organization, expressed deep shock at his death and sympathy to the bereaved family.
