3 Rohingyas injured in Cox’s Bazar shooting, attacker killed
Three Rohingya people were injured in indiscriminate shooting by the members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) in Cox’s Bazar early Sunday. Later, one of the attackers was beaten and hacked to death by a Rohingya mob.
The incident took place at G-one block of Tajnimarkhola 13 No. Rohingya camp at Palongkhali union in Ukhiya upazila of the district.
The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained.
The injured are Romida Khatun, 55, wife of Hosen Ahmed, their sons Mohammad Rafiq, 25 and Jubayer, 18.
Sheikh Mohammad Ali, Officer-in-charge of Ukhiya Police Station, said 20-25 terrorists opened fire indiscriminately at G-one block and injured three. At one stage of firing, Rohingya people came out of the block and chased them and detained one of the attacker. The detained attacker was beaten and hacked to death.
The OC also said body of the deceased was kept at District Sadar Hospital for autopsy. The members of the Armed Police Battalion were deployed at the spot.
The attackers are said to be members of the ARSA, the OC added.
