Mamunul Haque gets bail in 5 cases
The High Court (HC) has granted bail to former Joint Secretary General of Hefazat-e-Islam Mawlana Mamunul Haque in five cases filed with Dhaka’s Paltan and Chattogram’s Hathazari police stations over the clashes centering the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021.
The HC bench of Justice Mostofa Jaman Islam and Justice Md Aminul Islam passed the order on Wednesday.
On April 18, 2021, a joint team of Tejgaon division police and DMP’s Detective Branch arrested Mamunul from Jamia Rahmania Arabia madrasa in Mohammadpur.
The following day, he was shown arrested in a case filed on March 7 of 2020 over vandalism by activists of the Qawmi madrasa-based organisation in Mohammadpur.
He was also shown arrested in 16 other cases filed with Paltan, Motijheel and Narayanganj’s Sonargaon police stations.
