3 die after drinking toxic liquor in Kushita

Three people died and five others fell sick after drinking toxic liquor in Kushtia early Monday.  

The deceased were identified as Shahin, 47, son of late Harun-or-Rashid of Ailchara area in Kushtia Sadar upazila, Ratan, 21, son of late Hanif of Moshan Barui Para in Mirpur upazila and Sifat Ullah, 27, son of Rakibul Alam of Bheramara upazila. 

They died while undergoing treatment at Kushtia General Hospital. 

Dr Tapos Kumar Sarker, Medical Officer of the hospital, confirmed the matter to Jago News. 

Shahadat Hossain, Officer-in-charge of Kushtia Model Police Station, said some people fell sick after drinking toxic alcohol in different parts of the district and was admitted to the hospital on Sunday night. Of them, three died and were kept at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy. No written complaint was filed in this connection yet.
