2 killed as bus runs over auto-rickshaw in Netrakona

Two people were killed and four others injured when a bus hit an auto-rickshaw on Netrakona-Mymensingh highway at Gohalakanda area in Netrakona on Friday morning.
The deceased were identified as Shakib Miah, 25, son of Helal Uddin of Isabpur village in Purbadhala and Niranjan Debnath, 36, son of late Abanikanta Debnath of Shahbazpur village of the same upazila.
The injured are auto-rickshaw driver Aman Ullah, 24, son of Abdur Gafur of Bugi village, Aksamul Miah, 28, son of Abdur Hekim of Alipur village, Faruk Ahmed, 32, of Baruna village and Akib Miah, 35, of Naopai village.
Police said, the auto-rickshaw started its journey to Netrakona around 7:30am after taking passengers from Shyamganj bazar in Mymensingh. When the vehicle reached at Gohalakanda area, a bus coming from opposite direction ran over it, leaving two people dead on the spot and four others injured.
Md Saiful Islam, Officer-in-charge of Purbadhala Police Station, said bodies of the deceased were recovered and kept at Netrakona Adhunik Sadar Hospital. No case was filed yet in this connection.
