Ex-ward councilor hacked dead in C'nawabganj

Miscreants hacked a former ward councilor to death in Chapainawabganj on Wednesday evening.

Deceased Khairul Alam Jem, 50, was the former councilor of Ward No. 9 under Shibganj municipality.

The incident took place at Udoyon intersection in the municipal area.

Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital's Emergency Department in-charge Anwar Rafique said Jem was brought here in critical condition this evening and he succumbed to injuries around 8 pm.

His head bore injury from the weapon and he died due to excessive bleeding, Rafique added.

Confirming the matter to Jago News, Sadar Police Station officer in-charge Md Sazzad Hossain said it could not be confirmed yet who killed Jem.

Earlier on April 13, a local union parishad member named Alam Jhapra, 50, was hacked to death by the rival group at Nabab intersection under Nayaladanga union in Shibganj upazila.
