Fire breaks out after blast in Ctg cold storage, 4 injured
A fire broke out at the four-storey building of Janata Cold Storage at Rajakhali in Baklia of Chattogram after a blast around 1am on Tuesday.
Four pedestrians were injured after one side wall of the building’s ground floor collapsed on them in the blast.
The injured are Md Tareq, 28, Nur Hossain, Md Mannan, 34 and Robin, 22.
They were admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) around 2am, said Sub Inspector Nurul Ashek, In-charge of the CMCH police camp.
Abdul Hamid Miah, Sub Assistant Director of Agrabad Fire Service, said the fire broke out at the building after an ammonia gas cylinder of the cold storage exploded.
Being informed at 1:05am, seven firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control at 2:35am, he said.
Nazim Uddin, Officer-in-charge of Baklia Police Station, said four people were injured after one side wall of the building’s ground floor collapsed on them in the blast. Among them, one’s leg was broken.
