Fire at New Super Market under control
A massive fire that broke out at the south building of New Super Market in the capital’s New Market area early Saturday has been brought under control.
Brigadier General Md Main Uddin, Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire was brought under control at 9:10am. Now, the work is going on to douse the fire completely.
He said this at a press briefing around 10am while visiting the spot.
The fire service received information about the fire at 5:40am.
Being informed, a total of 30 firefighting units rushed to the spot in phases and started to bring the fire under control.
The members of army, navy and air force also joined them to douse the flame. The members of RAB, police and BGB were also deployed in the area.
