Gulistan underground market at very high risk of fire

Fire Service and Civil Defence has said Gulistan underground market is at a very high risk of fire.

Fire service Dhaka Zone-1 chief Md Bazrul Rashid said this to Jago News on Thursday after visiting the market.

He said Gulistan underground market has no source of water and no system of reaching water there in case of fire.

It has also no fire alarm system (detector), he said, adding that they found fire extinguishers there but some are expired and some others inactive.

Bazlur Rashid said two years back fire service visited the market and submitted a report to the authorities concerned but no step was taken.

The official said today's report of inspection will also be submitted to the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters.
