5 killed as bus collides with auto-rickshaw in Chattogram
Five people were killed and another was injured when a bus collided with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Chattogram on Thursday morning.
The accident took place on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Arakan highway at Raikhali bridge area in Boalkhali around 9am.
Of the deceased, three were identified as Md Selim, 45, son of Jalal Ahmed of Mirpara in Boalkhali upazila, Anjana Akter, 35, wife of Md Adil of Jorarganj in Mirsarai upazila and Babul Dey, 60, son of Balaram Dey of Patia upazila. They were the passengers of the auto-rickshaw.
Locals said, the Patia-bound bus collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw, leaving four people dead on the spot and two others injured. Later, the two injured were taken to a hospital where the doctor declared one of them dead.
Md Abdur Razzak, Officer-in-charge of Boalkhali Police Station, there were six passengers including the driver in the auto-rickshaw.
The driver of the killer bus was detained over the accident, the OC said.
