Sagar-Runi murder: Probe report submission deferred for 97th time

The date to submit the investigation report into the murder case of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi has been deferred for the 97th time.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashedul Alam on Sunday fixed May 22 to submit the report as the Rapid Action Battalion failed to submit it today.

Maasranga Television News Editor Sagar Sarowar and his wife ATN Bangla senior reporter Meherun Runi were found dead at their house in the capital on February 11 of 2012.

Later, Runi's brother Nousher Alam Roman lodged a case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in this connection.

A sub-inspector of the police station first investigated the sensational murder case.

Four days after he took the charge, the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police was directed to look into the case.

In more than two months, the DB could not reveal the mystery behind the murder.

The High Court on April 18 of the same year asked to hand over the investigation charge to the RAB.
