Bangabazar fire: 300 sued for attacking police
A case has been filed against some 250-300 unknown people for allegedly attacking police and obstructing them from doing government works during putting out a fire at Dhaka's Bangabazar market.
Police filed the case with Bangshal Police Station in the capital on Thursday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Lalbagh Division Deputy Commissioner (Zafar Hossain told Jago News.
He said the headquarters of the Fire Service and Civil Defence and the firefighters came under attack while extinguishing the devastating fire at Bangabazar. Police were also attacked when they tried to obstruct the attackers.

The lawsuit was lodged for alleged attacks on police and hindering them in performing government duties, he said, adding that legal action will be taken identifying those involved in the attacks.
Earlier, a deadly fire broke out at Bangabazar clothing market early Monday (April 4), injuring several people and burning 5,000-6,000 shops.
