2 more stations of metro rail open for commuters
The Kazipara and Mirpur-11 stations of the country’s first-ever metro rail service were opened to public on Wednesday morning.
These are the sixth and seventh stations of the metro rail currently in operation.
Mahfujur Rahman, Manager of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), told Jago News that two stations were launched today. Two more stations will also be opened this month. The metro rail will run in full-swing from this year’s July.
The metro rail will now stop at - Uttara North, Uttara Center, Pallabi, Mirpur-11, Mirpur-10, Kazipara and Agargaon. Currently, the metro trains are running between 8:30am and 12:30pm every day except Tuesday.
Earlier on December 28 last, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country’s first elevated metro rail service, known as MRT Line-6.
The authorities plan to extend the service from Uttara to Motijheel by next year before opening the route to Kamalapur in 2025.
