3 killed in blast at building in Science Lab
Three people were killed and thirteen others injured in an explosion at a three-storey building in the capital’s Science Lab at 10:50am on Saturday. Later, a fire broke out in the building and a portion of wall collapsed due to the blast.
The deceased were identified as Shafiquzzaman, Abdul Mannan and Tushar.
Ikram Ali Miah, Officer-in-charge of Dhanmondi Model Police Station, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
The three were critically injured in the incident and brought to the Popular Hospital where the doctors declared them dead.
On information, four units of the fire service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control at 11:13am.
Of the injured, six people were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS) and seven to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Md Bachchu Miah, In-charge of DMCH police camp, confirmed.
In this connection, Khaleda Yesmin, Duty Officer of the control room of Fire Service and Civil Defense, said the fire broke out in the building after a blast.
