Six killed in Sitakunda oxygen plant blast

Six people were killed and at least 22 others injured in an explosion in an oxygen plant in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Saturday afternoon.

Among the deceased, five were identified as Shamsul Islam, Faridul Alam, Ratan, Abdul Quader and Salauddin.

The injured were admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

CMCH Police Outpost in-charge SI Nurul Ashek confirmed the matter at about 8 pm.

Earlier, the explosion occurred at Sima Oxygen Plant in Kadamrasulpur area around 4:55 pm.

Being informed, eight firefighting units rushed to the spot and started trying to bring the fire under control.

Locals said a few kilometer areas were shaken due to the blast.
