Metro rail Mirpur-10 station opens for commuters
The Mirpur-10 station, the fifth station of the country’s first-ever metro rail service, was opened for commuters on Wednesday morning.
M A N Siddique, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), said the rest four stations - Uttara Dakkhin, Mirpur-11, Kaziprara and Shewrapara - will be opened in phases.
Currently, the metro trains are being operated from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
Earlier, the metro rail authority opened Pallabi Station on January 25 for public. Later, the Uttara Centre Station was opened on February 18.
On December 28 last year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the metro rail service, known as MRT Line-6. Uttara Uttar and Agargaon stations were also opened on that day.
The authorities have planned to extend the service from Uttara to Motijheel by next year before opening the route to Kamalapur in 2025.
