Argentina reopens embassy in Dhaka
Argentina has reopened its embassy at Banani in Dhaka on Monday afternoon.
Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship Santiago Andres Cafiero along with Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Minister Shahriar Alam inaugurated the embassy at 4pm.
Earlier in the morning, Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago arrived in Dhaka on a two-day visit.
Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen received him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8am.
Momen will hold a bilateral talk with Santiago at state guesthouse Jamuna in the evening. He will also host a dinner in honour of the Argentine Foreign Minister after the bilateral talks.
During the visit, the Argentine Foreign Minister will also meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi.
It is mentionable that, Argentina reopened its embassy in Dhaka 45 years after it was closed in 1978 by the military junta that ruled the country at that time.
Diplomatic operations, such as visas in order to travel, had since been handled by the Argentine embassy in India.
