Five killed as bus rams auto-rickshaw in Bogura
Five people were killed and another was injured as a bus rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Shajahanpur upazila of Bogura on Thursday afternoon.
Among the deceased, three were identified as Hazrat Ali, 50, driver of the auto-rickshaw and a resident of Kadamtali area in Gabtali upazila, and Nurnabi Badsha, 60, and Shahana Begum, 38, of Bererbari area in Dhunat upazila of the district.
Shahjahanpur Police Station sub-inspector Abdur Rahman said a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Sujabad Dahpara area around 12:30 pm, leaving four passengers of the latter vehicle dead on the spot and two others injured.
The injured two, including a baby girl of the dead Shahana, were taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where the child died, he added.
Soon after the incident, the bus and the auto-rickshaw caught fire, he said.
According to someone, a gas cylinder explosion due to the accident between the two vehicles led to the fire but it is also learned that the vehicles were set on fire which is being probed, SI Abdur Rahman said.
