Woman, granddaughter die as motorcycle hits them

A woman and her six-month-old granddaughter were killed after being hit by a motorcycle in Turag of Dhaka around Wednesday 12 midnight.

The deceased were identified as Mazeda Khuki, 50, and her granddaughter Rafia Akter.

Turag Police Station officer in-charge Maudud Hawlader confirmed the matter on Thursday morning.

Dead Rafia's father Rifat Hossain said a motorcycle hit his mother and daughter beside 2 No. station of Metro Rail when they were returning home after a marriage ceremony.

Later, his mother was taken to a local hospital where she was declared dead while his daughter was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared her dead., Rifat added.

DMCH Police Camp in-charge (inspector) Md Bachchu Mia confirmed the death of Rafia.

However, the motorcycle rider was detained, he added.
