The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court stayed the High Court’s (HC) order that asked authorities concerned to immediately allocate stall to publishing house Adarsha Prokashoni in Amar Ekushey Book Fair on conditions of not to sell or display three books, about which Bangla Academy raised objections.

A three-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui passed the order on Wednesday after hearing an appeal filed by Bangla Academy against the HC order.

As a result, Adarsha Prokashoni will not get a stall in the ongoing book fair.

Barrister Anik R Haque, a lawyer of the publishing house, confirmed the matter to Jago News.

On February 8, the High Court ordered authorities concerned to immediately allocate stall to Adarsha Prokashoni in the book fair.

An HC division bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order after holding hearing on a writ filed by Adarsha Prokashoni proprietor Mahabub Rahman.

The three books, about which the Bangla Academy raised objections, are Mediocrityr Sandhane written by Faham Abdus Salam, Unnayan Bivram written by Zia Hasan and Aprotiroddho Unnayaner Ovabanio Kothamala by Fayej Ahmed Taiyab.
