585 killed in 593 road accidents in January
At least 585 people were killed and 899 others injured in 593 road accidents across the country in January.
During the same period, at least 46 people were killed and 78 injured in 44 accidents on railways.
Apart from this, 11 people were killed, one person was injured and six people went missing in 13 accidents on waterways.
Besides, 205 people were killed and 114 injured in 214 motorcycle accidents.
A total of 642 people were killed and 978 others injured in road, railway and waterway accidents in the month of January.
Jatri Kalyan Samity (JKS) on Saturday revealed the information after making a report in this regard.
The report was prepared by analyzing news of road, rail and waterway accidents published in national, regional and online newspapers of the country.
The lowest number of road accidents was recorded on January 2, with 12 road accidents resulting in 10 deaths and 21 injuries.
The highest death toll in a single day in road accidents was on January 11. Thirty people were killed and 17 injured in 26 road accidents on this day, said the report.
