Three held over attempted kidnapping in Dhaka

Police have arrested three people over the attempted kidnapping of two men on the Mohakhali Flyover in capital Dhaka.

The arrestees are Md Muminul, his car driver and a relative of his. Of them, Muminul introduced himself as a member of the Rapid Action Battalion.

Banani Police Station officer in-charge Nur-e-Azam Mia confirmed the arrests to Jago News on Saturday evening.

He said one of the victims filed a case over the incident.

The victims, Shahidul and Riaz, told a private TV channel that four people introducing themselves as RAB members stopped their car on the Mohakhali Flyover around 2:15 am on Saturday and attempted to kidnap them at gunpoint.

Later, two kidnappers escaped seeing a policeman approaching the scene but the rest was caught by the mob.
