Mufti Kazi Ibrahim released from jail on bail
Islamic preacher Mufti Kazi Ibrahim, who was convicted of giving provocative speeches, has been released from jail on bail.
He walked out of Keraniganj Central Jail in Dhaka at about 6 pm on Thursday, his lawyer Shawkat Ullah Chowdhury confirmed to Jago News.
Earlier on Tuesday, his lawyer filed a petition in Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court seeking the withdrawal of PW in separate cases with Mohammadpur, and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Stations.
After hearings, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam granted the plea in the case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station while Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid Siddique granted the lawsuit with Mohammadpur Police Station.
He was on bail in the two cases but there was PW in the lawsuits as he was behind bar.
Earlier on Monday, Mufti Kazi Ibrahim pleaded guilty and prayed for mercy in the court of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge AKM Zulfikar in the Digital Security Act case.
Later, the court accepted his prayer and took into account the time he spent in jail since his arrest as a sentence.
