Naikhongchhari Rohingya camp shooting leaves 1 dead
A man was killed in a shooting between two groups in a Rohingya camp in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban district on Wednesday morning over establishing supremacy.
The incident took place in Rohingya camp area under 2 No. ward of Ghumdhum union this morning.
Local sources said the members of two separatist organizations - Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) - at the camp clashed and at one stage, it turned into a shooting.
Naikhongchhari upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Romen Sharma said they learned the incident of firing between ARSA and RSO in no-man's-land area left one dead and another injured.
Ghumdhum union parishad member Md Bhutto said they heard the sound of gunshots from no-man's land area this morning but he could not confirm any casualty.
However, Rohingya leader Dil Mohammad claimed three people were killed in the clash but he could not confirm the identities of the deceased.
