Four noted citizens get death threat
Four noted citizens, Ekushey Award winner educationist Prof Anupam Sen and general secretary of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad Rana Dasgupta, has received death threat allegedly from Islamist outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team.
The other death threat recipients are former general secretary of Chittagong Bar Association Ashok Kumar Das and assistant secretary of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad Chandan Biswas.
Ashok Kumar Das told reporters on Saturday that he received a text message from an unknown mobile phone number at 7:34am threatening that he along with Anupam Sen and Rana Dasgupta are the ‘next targets’ of Islamist outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team.
Chandan Biswas also received a similar text message from un unknown mobile phone, saying, ‘Mr you and your family our next target from tomorrow, and next target Dr Anupam Sen and Rana Dasgupta. Ansarullah Bangla Team.”
Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Md Jasim Uddin said Advocate Ashok Kumar filed a general diary (GD) with the police station in this connection.
He said police are to trace mail senders searching the call list of mobile phone.
Earlier, renowned sculptor Ferdousi Priyabhashini received death threat from an unknown number over phone on August 8, a day after the killing of blogger Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy in the capital.
Niloy was hacked to death by unidentified assailants inside his fourth-floor flat at North Goran in the city on August 7. He was the fourth Bangladeshi blogger killed so far this year.
