Seven get life in teacher murder case

A court in Kushtia on Wednesday sentenced seven people to life-term rigorous imprisonment in a teacher murder case.

The lifers are Firoz, Delbar, Sabuj, Mizan, and Hossain Ali, residents of Rajitpur village, and Saidul Islam of Gaznabipur village in Sadar upazila, and Helal from Sirampur village in Shailakupa upazila of Jhenaidah district.

Kushtia Additional District and Session Judge Court judge Md Tajul Islam handed down the verdict, the court public prosecutor (PP) Anup Kumar Nandi confirmed.

Court sources said Mithu Sheikh, a teacher of Ranjitpur High School in Sadar upazila, was hacked to death on December 29, 2005, over the previous enmity.

Later, a case was filed with Islamic University (IU) Police Station, Kushtia in this connection.
