Bishwa-Ijtema preparation on last phase


Bishwa-Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslims around the world after Hajj, set to start from January 9, is on the last stage of its preparation. Tents for the devotees have been set on bank of river Turag.

The north-western side of the field has been allocated for the foreign devotees where tents have been made with tins, told the in-charge for setting up tents for the foreign guests. The north side tents will be given to the local musallis, he added.

Toilets for the devotees have been constructed as well. Besides, engineering core of Bangladesh Army set up Pontoon bridges on the river Turag for the participants. Organizing Committee member of the Ijtema Abdul Kuddus told Jagonews 80% of preparation has been done. The rest will be completed by January 7, he assured.

Local MP Zahid Ahsan Russel said government is up to providing with all the facilities needed to join and conduct the Ijtema properly. Special train and BRTC buses will be given on service of the musallis to and from Ijtema.

Small stalls and other illegal constructions have already been removed from and around the Ijtema ground.

The Ijtema will be held from 9th  of this month. It will be completed in two phases. Final prayer of the 1st phase will be conducted on 11th , and the 2nd  phase prayer will be held on 16th .
