Gulshan attackers identified: DMP Boss

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia on Sunday said masterminds and instigators of city’s Gulshan café attack have been identified and their arrest is now matter of time.

The DMP commissioner unveiled the information at his office in the afternoon.

On first day of July, Dhaka witnessed one of the worst terror attacks in its history as gunmen equipped with heavy arms and grenade stormed into Holey Artisan Bakery, an upscale eatery on Road 79 of Gulshan and took the diners as hostage. Later they killed 22 people including two police officers after a 12 hour long hostage situation.

They killed nine Italians, seven Japanese, two Bangladeshis, one Bangladeshi-American and one Indian.

Thirteen hostages were rescued while six of the gunmen, who attacked the upscale eatery, were killed in a 50-minute army-led joint forces operation codenamed ‘Operation Thunderbolt’ on July 2.
