Suicide drama being staged over Fardin's death: Father

The Father of BUET student Fardin Nur Parash has claimed his son was killed in a planned way and now a suicide drama is being staged over his death.

Kazi Nuruddin said this to the journalists at the media center of the office of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police at capital Dhaka's Minto Road on Thursday.

Expressing his discontent over the investigation, he said, "My son grew up in poverty since childhood and coped with all situations, my son cannot commit suicide."

Mentioning that Fardin had his hair cut and shaved before going out of home for BUET on the day of missing, he questioned, "Does anyone get a haircut, and shave before suicide"?

Showing two photos of Fardin's body, Nuruddin said he saw two injury marks on his head. "False and confusing information has been spread since the beginning to divert the murder to a different direction in a planned way."

Kazi Nuruddin also expressed his anger toward the BUET administration, saying no one from the administration met him and show sympathy to them.

"My son would not have faced such fate had he did not get admission at BUET."

Asked whether he will give a no-confidence petition over the investigation conducted by DB, he replied, "Will I still have to file no-confidence"?

Earlier on Wednesday, DB chief Harun-or-Rashid in a press conference claimed that Fardin committed suicide by jumping into the river from frustration for money.

He said Fardin was an introvert and couldn't share anything with anyone. Though he obtained 3.15 out of CGPA 4 in the first semester, it gradually declined to 2.67 but his family members or relatives didn't know the poorer results.

The DB chief went on to say that he needed around Tk 60,00 to go to Spain to attend a debate competition and was struggling to collect the money.

His friends gave him Tk 40,000 but he, later, committed suicide being mentally depressed, he added.

Harun also said Fardin would pay all money from his four private tuitions to meet his and his two younger brothers' study expenses.

He wanted to reside in university dormitory but his family didn't allow it. That is why he was stressed, he said.

After the claim by DB, the Rapid Action Battalion in another press conference also claimed Fardin committed suicide by voluntarily jumping into the Shitalakhya river from Demra Sultana Kamal Bridge in Dhaka.

It came out in the investigation of Fardin's death after considering all evidence, including CCTV footage, and digital footprints, RAB claimed.

Fardin Nur Parash

Fardin Nur Parash, 24, a third-year student of the Civil Engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, went missing on November 5.

On the same day, his father Kazi Nuruddin Rana, a resident of Noyamati area in Fatulla of Narayanganj, filed a general diary with Rampura Station in Dhaka about his missing.

On November 7, naval police recovered his body from Shitalakhya river in Narayanganj.

Later, Kazi Nuruddin lodged a case against Bushra and some unnamed people with the same police station accusing them of killing Fardin and covering up his body.
