Special police drives: 307 held in Dhaka in a day

Police arrested 307 people in special drives conducted in capital Dhaka in the last 24 hours.

They all were arrested on specific allegations and of them, 76 were apprehended in political cases. 

Md Faruque Hossain, the deputy commissioner (DC) of the Media and Public Relation Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed to Jago News on Sunday night.

He said police headquarters instructed countrywide special drives from December 1 to 15 following the snatching of two convicted militants from police custody in a court area in capital Dhaka on November 20 and in a bid to make the celebration of Victory Day, Christmas Day, and 31st Night safe.

In continuation of this, police conducted drives in the capital in the past 24 hours and arrested 307 people, he said.

Apart from the 76 held in political cases, drug dealers, convicts, armed terrorists, thieves, and snatchers are among the arrestees, DC Faruque added.
