People suffer as public transport thin in Dhaka

The presence of public transport was relatively thin in Dhaka on Saturday ahead of the divisional mass rally of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Commuters were seen waiting on roads for long due to lack of public transport.

Long-haul bus services have been stopped. No bus is leaving or entering Dhaka.

Some CNG auto-rickshaws are running but asking two to three times the usual fare.

The scenario was seen in different parts of the capital including Jatrabari, Gulistan, Farmgate, Shyamoli, Mohakhali, Shonir Akhra and Rayerbagh.

In this connection, Enayet Ullah, Secretary General of Bangladesh Road Transport Association, told Jago News that we have no decision to stop buses in Dhaka. The owners may drive cars less due to panic.

However, BNP’s Dhaka divisional mass rally is underway at Golapbagh ground in Sayedabad. The rally started after 10am.
