2 Rohingyas killed in gunfight with police in Ukhiya

Two Rohingya people were killed in a gunfight with police in Cox’s Bazar on Friday midnight. 

The incident took place at B-40 block of Balukhali 8-east Rohingya camp in Ukhiya upazila. 

The deceased were identified as Salim Ullah, 33, son of late Mohammad Nur Prakash of B-24 block and Riduan, 26, son of Golam Kadir of Block-34 of the camp. 

Sheikh Mohammad Ali, Officer-in-charge of Ukhiya Police Station, said 40-50 miscreants attacked on Mohammad Rafiq, head majhi of the 8-east camp. Hearing the news, members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) rushed to the spot and came under attack by the Rohingya terrorists. In reply, APBn members also fired back.

After the shooting, police recovered homemade arms, four round cartridges, a knife, eleven round bullets, a magazine, four shotgun cartridges and two dead bodies from the spot. The bodies were sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, the OC added.
