Transport strike called ahead of BNP's rally in Rajshahi

An indefinite transport strike has been called in all districts of Rajshahi division from December 1 demanding a ban on illegal vehicles on road.

The decision came after a joint meeting of the Rajshahi Division Road Transport Owners-Workers' Unity Council in Natore on Saturday afternoon.

The transport strike was called at a time when BNP is going to hold its Rajshahi divisional mass rally on December 3.

President of the transport owners and workers organization Safkat Manzur Biplob said they announced the strike to press home their 11-point demand, including banning CNG and battery-run auto-rickshaws on road.

Condemning the decision, organizing secretary of BNP Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu said the strike was called to obstruct the party's December 3 mass rally.
