One dengue patient dies; 221 hospitalized in 24 hrs

One dengue patient died and 221 were hospitalized in the last 24 hours until Friday morning.

With the latest death, a total of 242 people died of dengue to date, a Directorate General of Health Services press release said.

Currently, 1,969 people diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease are taking treatment at different government and private hospitals in and outside the capital of Dhaka. 

Of them, 1,135 are being treated at the facilities in the capital while 834 are in other divisions.   

As many as 55,145 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country since January 1 this year.

Some 52,934 out of the hospitalized patients, however, recovered during the period.
