Three killed as bus hits truck parked on road

Three people were killed and at least 15 others injured as a bus hit a truck parked on the road in Sadar upazila of Gopalganj district on Thursday night.

Among the deceased, two were identified as Ashiquzzaman, 26, supervisor of the bus and a resident of Tungipara upazila of the district, and Shohag, 30, driver of the truck, hailed from Boalmari upazila of Faridpur district.

Bhatiapara Highway Police inspector (investigation) Abu Naeem Md Tofazzal Haque confirmed the matter to Jago News.

He said a speeding bus of 'Emad Paribahan' hit a sand-laden truck parked on a side of the Dhaka-Khulna Highway in Gopinathpur area around 11 pm, leaving three dead on the spot and at least 15 others hurt.

Later, police and firefighters rescued the injured and sent them to Gopalganj General Hospital, he added.
