President returns home after overseas treatment
President M Abdul Hamid on Thursday returned home, wrapping up his 20-day visit to Germany and the United Kingdom (UK) for health checkup and eye treatment, reports BSS.
A VVIP flight (BG 202) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited carrying the President, his wife Rashida Khanam and his entourage members landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital at 11:05 am.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq, British high commissioner in Dhaka, cabinet secretary, chiefs of the three services, chief coordinator of SDG affairs at Prime Minister's Office, foreign secretary, home secretary, IGP and other military and civil officials were present at the airport to welcome the President.
Earlier, the aircraft boarding the President left London Heathrow Airport at 7:17 pm (London time), Ashequn Nabi Chowdhury, Minister (Press) at the High Commission of Bangladesh in London, told BSS.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK) Saida Muna Tasneen and senior officials of Bangladesh Mission in London saw the President off at the airport, he added.
The Head of State left Dhaka for Germany's capital Berlin on October 29 and from there, he flew to London of the United Kingdom (UK) on November 5.
The 78-year-old President has been suffering from Glaucoma for long.
He used to have his health checkup in London and Berlin while he was the Jatiya Sangsad speaker.
