President leaves London for home after overseas treatment
President M Abdul Hamid has left London for home wrapping up his 20-day visit to Germany and the United Kingdom (UK) for health checkup and eye treatment, reports BSS.
"A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited carrying the President, his wife Rashida Khanam and his entourage members left London Heathrow Airport at 7:17 pm on Wednesday (London time)," Ashequn Nabi Chowdhury, Minister (Press) at the High Commission of Bangladesh in London, told BSS.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK) Saida Muna Tasneen and senior officials of Bangladesh Mission in London saw the President off at the airport, the minister (press) added.
The aircraft is expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport on Thursday morning.
Earlier, the head of the state left Dhaka on 29 October on a 16-day visit to Berlin, the capital of Germany, and from there, he flew to London of the United Kingdom (UK) on November 6.
The President was scheduled to return to Dhaka on November 13. Subsequently the time was extended till Nov 17 for the advice of the physicians, added an official familiar to the process.
The 78-year-old President Hamid has been suffering from Glaucoma for long.
He used to have his health checkup in London and Berlin while he was the Jatiya Sangsad speaker.
