No rally permission if premonition of subversion remains

State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Friday said the BNP would not be permitted to hold its January 5 rally if apprehension remained over any possibility of subversion.

He said police were looking to see if official permission could be given for the event to take place.
The state minister was talking to reporters after inaugurating the eighth Hajj and Umrah fair at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital city in the morning.

The four-day fair was organized by the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh. Still we have time before the BNP could be given the permission for holding the rally and we will know the final decision on time, said Asaduzzaman.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the fair earlier in the day, the state minister said actions would be taken if specific complaints were lodged about any kind of Hajj anomaly.

He said the Home Ministry would work to speed up the process of delivering passports to the prospective Hajj pilgrims.
