Man gets death 14 years after killing lover
A court in Madaripur district on Tuesday sentenced a man to death for killing his lover around 14 years ago.
The condemned convict is Shahidul Molla, a resident of Brahmandi village under Pachkhola union in Sadar upazila of the district.
Judge of the Additional District and Sessions Judge Court Lailatul Ferdous handed down the verdict. The court also fined him Tk 50,000.
The case statement said Shahidul Molla, 25, and Farida Begum, 22, the daughter of Abdul Karim Kabir, a resident of Mahisherchar village in the same upazila, developed a love relationship.
The victim went missing on May 6, 2008, when she went out with him.
On the following day, police recovered her body from a garden at Dhuasa village in Kalkini upazila.
Later, her brother Hannan Quari lodged a case against Shahidul Molla and unnamed others with Kalkini Police Station in this connection.
On June 22, 2009, the investigation officer pressed charges against only Shahidul Molla in court in the lawsuit.
