A case has been filed against Pabna's Bera upazila chairman Rezaul Haque Babu and three others for 'abetment to suicide of a teenage girl.'

Three other accused are Motahar, Junat Sarder, and Bukka.

The victim's mother lodged the case in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ataullah on Wednesday.

The court accepted the statement of the plaintiff and asked the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit probe report on December 29.

The case statement said Rezaul Haque Babu raped the victim, Rupa, in Dakshin Khan area of capital Dhaka on March 6, 2022, and threatened to kill her if she share the incident with anyone.

In August, he raped the victim on several occasions and as a result, she became pregnant.

When she informed him about her pregnancy, he intimidated her not to disclose the matter to anyone.

On September 15, the victim reportedly committed suicide.
