Skilled manpower will ensure knowledge-based economy: Palak

Stating that labour-incentive economy has been dominating in Bangladesh for last 20 years, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Friday said we have to transform it into a knowledge- based economy by creating skilled manpower.

In a bid to make such transformation, government is planning to turn our youth forces into human resources through providing training on ICT, the ICT Junior Minister told this at the foundation stone laying function of Sheikh Kamal IT Training and incubation Centre in the city.

He also assured that 20 lakh youths in the country will be employed in the IT sector in the next five years.

Palak said the young generations have to achieve IT knowledge to turn themselves into competent workforce to supplement the government efforts of building a prosperous country, reports BSS.

Local Lawmaker Md Shafiqul Islam Shimul, Secretary of ICT Division Shyam Sundar Sikder and Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) Hosne Ara Begum, among others, addressed the function with Deputy Secretary Md Khalilur Rahman in the chair.

Sheikh Kamal IT Training and incubation Centre will be set up on 2.5 acres of land involving Taka 9.13 crore in old Jailkhana Bhaban area at Natore.
