Vorer Pata editor Ertaza Hassan granted bail

A Dhaka court has granted bail to Dr Kazi Ertaza Hassan, editor and publisher of the Daily Vorer Pata, in a case filed over occupying land through forgery.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan on Monday granted the bail on bond of Tk 5,000.

Earlier on November 4, Ertaza was produced before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mosharraf Hossain after one-day remand. Later, the court denied his bail petition and ordered to send him to jail.

On the night of November 1, a team of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested him from his office in the capital’s Gulshan-2.

According to the case, Ertaza and his accomplices committed fraud by purchasing land from Ashiyan Group for Northern University Bangladesh. They have been accused of fraudulently completing the registry without paying the full price of the land.
