Jago News Correspondents’ Conference held, 11 honoured

The “Correspondents’ Conference 2022” of Jago News, one of the leading online news portals of the country, was held amid festive environment at Seolo Restaurant of Hosen Market in the capital’s Badda on Monday. 

The correspondents of the portal from all divisions, districts, upazilas and universities took part in the conference. Of them, 11 were honoured in different categories for their best performances.

The journalists and the staffs of the portal’s Dhaka office also attended. 

Country Editor Anwar Hosen conducted the programme while Assistant News Editor Sakhawat Hosen Sujon moderated it.

The day-long programme started with the national anthem at 9am. Acting Editor of Jago News K M Zeaul Haque gave the welcome speech.

He said, different news from rural areas and the districts are published through the correspondents. The conference has been organized to know their thoughts and working experiences.

Later, the correspondents including Dhaka office and the staffs introduced themselves.  

Ashikur Rahman, Director (audio visual) of Jago News’ video production, gave his speech on video content and using of electronic devices given to the correspondents.

After the tea break, Jago News Planning Editor Moniruzzaman Ujjal delivered his speech on news presentation. 

Jago News Additional News Editor Ashif Aziz addressed on using of different words in news.

The first session of the conference ended with the taking of group photo.

The second session started after the lunch break. Deputy Editor Dr Harun Rashid presented his speech on rural journalism.

Later, a cultural programme was held while Rashed Shikder, known as ‘Banglar Mister Bin’ performed.

PRAN-RFL Group Director (Marketing) Kamruzzaman Kamal in his speech urged the correspondents to provide accurate and objective news.

However, 11 correspondents were honoured in different categories for their best performances.

Narayanganj Correspondent Mobashir Shraban was honoured as the best correspondent of the year.

In highest published news category, Chattogram Staff Reporter Iqbal Hosen became first. Cox’s Bazar Correspondent Sayeed Alamgir and Mymensingh Correspondent Monjurul Islam obtained second and third position respectively.

In video category, Noakhali Correspondent Iqbal Hosen Mojnu, Cumilla Correspondent Jahid Patwary and Sherpur Correspondent Imran Hosen Rabbi became first, second and third respectively. 

In special news category, Sunamganj Correspondent Lipson Ahmmed, Dinajpur Correspondent Emdadul Haque Milon and Patuakhali Correspondent Abdus Salam Arif became first, second and third respectively.

Rajshahi University Correspondent Monir Hosen Mahin was honoured as the best university correspondent.

Jago News Special Correspondents Arifur Rahman Babu, Rafiqul Islam and Sports Editor Imam Hossain Sohel were present among others in the programme.
