Lalbagh police station OC, 4 SIs sued over looting

A case has been filed against the officer in-charge and four sub-inspectors of Lalbagh Police Station, Dhaka for allegedly looting around Tk 4.50 lakh of a man and beating up him.

The accused are OC M S Murshed, and SIs Tareque Nazir, Tareque Aziz, Md Atoar Hossain and Krishnachandan Mitra.

One named Billal Hossain lodged the case in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farah Diba Chhanda on Thursday.

Accepting the plaintiff's statement, the court asked the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to look into the allegation and submit a report on November 30.

The case statement said Billal was falsely accused and shown arrested in two separate cases filed with Lalbagh Police Station on October 13 under the Penal Code and the Narcotics Control Act. 

The accused came to his business entity Yeasin Samabay Samity Ltd. in Lalbagh to arrest him and at that time, they looted about Tk 4.50 lakh, around 3.50 bhori gold ornaments, CC camera DBR and important documents breaking drawer of table.

The defendants also beat up him and scolded him when he protested.

The accused threatened to falsely accuse Billal in another case when he sought his money, gold ornaments and documents back.
