Dredger capsize: 3 more bodies recovered from Bay

Bodies of three more workers were recovered on Wednesday morning after a dredger capsized in the Bay of Bengal in Mirsharai upazila of Chattogram due to the impact of Cyclone Sitrang on Monday night. 

The deceased were identified as Imam Molla, son of Anis Molla, of Char Jainakathi village in Patuakhali Sadar upazila, Mahmud Molla, son of Abdul Haque Molla and Jahid Bari, son of Sekandar Bari. 

Mirsharai Upazila Nirbahi Officer Minhazur Rahman confirmed the matter to Jago News. 

He said a diver team recovered three more bodies from the Bay. With this, bodies of four people were recovered.

Earlier on Tuesday, another worker’s body was recovered. The deceased was identified as Al Amin Fakir, son of Rahman Fakir of Chattogram. 

Imam Hosen Patwary, Officer of Mirsharai Fire Service Station, said the rescue operation suspended at 12am on Wednesday after one body was recovered on Tuesday night. The rescue operation started at 9am today. 

On Monday night, the dredger machine was kept near the embankment at China Harbour area under Saherkhali Union in the upazila to lift sand from the sea. Later, eight workers went missing after it capsized due to the impact of Sitrang.
