Maritime ports asked to hoist signal No.1

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number one as the well-marked low over Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay intensified into a depression over East-Central Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay and North Andaman Sea.

"The depression was centered at 12 noon today about 1025 kilometers south of Chattogram port, 940 km south of Cox's Bazar port, 1070 km south-southeast of Mongla port and 1005 km south-southeast of Payra port," said a bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Saturday evening.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction, the bulletin added.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution.

They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
