Govt cancels appointment of BD ambassador to USA Shahidul
The government has cancelled the contractual appointment of Bangladesh ambassador to USA Md Shahidul Islam.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard on Thursday.
Following the sanctions imposed by the US on RAB last December, the Bangladesh government took the decision to remove Shahidul from the post.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on July 13 that it has been decided to appoint Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran as the next ambassador to the USA.
On September 4, 2020, the government appointed Shahidul Islam as the ambassador of Bangladesh to USA.
He was a career foreign service officer belonging to the 1985 batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service foreign affairs cadre.
It was a contractual appointment as he went on retirement from regular Foreign Service in June 2020.
He, earlier, served as ambassador of Bangladesh to South Korea and France.
