BGB man killed in Bandarban wild elephant attack

A member of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) was killed and its another member injured in a wild elephant attack in Bandarban on Tuesday evening. 

The incident took place at 9 No. Bhallukkhaia area in Naikhongchhari upazila at 7:30pm.   

The deceased is Abdul Mannan, Nayek Subedar of BGB-11. He was a resident of Chauddagram upazila in Cumilla. 

The injured is Md Touhidul Islam.

Locals said, a team of BGB went to the area to conduct a drive. At that time, a herd of wild elephant attacked them. Abdul Mannan died on the spot while Touhidul was injured.

Naikhongchhari Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Nurul Abchar said BGB members recovered the dead body with the help of local people. 

Confirming the matter to Jago News, Tantu Saha, Officer-in-charge of Naikhongchhari Police Station, said the dead body was sent to a hospital for autopsy.
